ELIMINATING COBWEBS IN THE RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES, DEPARTMNETS AND AGENCIES THROUGH PUBLIC RELATIONS TOOLS

Abstract:

The study determined the public relations tools in engendering a clean environment especially in eliminating cobwebs in the Rivers State ministries, departments and agencies. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised 318 cleaners from the core civil service ministries drawn from 26 ministries. Purposive sampling technique was used since the size was manageable. The questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Two experts face-validated the instrument while Cronbach Alpha method was used to establish the reliability coefficient of 0.79. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significant guided the study. The items were based on four (4) point rating scale; mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the research questions while t-test statistics was used in testing the formulated hypotheses. The findings revealed that there are available public relations tools in handling environmental issues but were not fully used. The study recommended that the use of public relations tools should be enforced amongst management, and staff of government ministries to imbibe the culture of eliminating cobwebs in their officers.
